Aleksandër Moisiu University in Durrës has introduced a pioneering program in “Quantum Technology,” becoming the first university in both Albania and the Western Balkans to offer this field of study. The program, which is part of the information technology and quantum computing sector, represents a significant advancement in the university’s academic offerings.
Rector Shkëlqim Fortuzi explained that the 15 students enrolled in this new program are entering a rapidly evolving sector that is increasingly shaping the global economy. He highlighted that the program focuses on cutting-edge technologies with practical applications in fields like medicine, cyber-security, and other advanced sectors.
Fortuzi also noted that the program’s curriculum was developed in collaboration with prestigious European and American universities, ensuring high academic standards. In addition to Albanian faculty, the program features international professors from Italy, the USA, Canada, and other countries.
The majority of the teaching staff for the Quantum Technology program consists of international experts, with lectures delivered in both English and Italian.
The University of Durrës has secured strong support from universities and businesses in the United States. The primary aim of the program is to prepare specialists who can meet the demands of the growing quantum technology sector, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed in today’s job market.
