LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – There is a lot of talk about bringing big-game production studios to Las Vegas.
In the meantime, one Las Vegas Valley filmmaker is taking advantage of all the city has to offer.
Filmmaker and owner of Black Raven Films. Adam Kilbourn says his independent film called “Action Action” was a dream of his since he was 16-years-old.
“For a long time since I was 16 i wanted to make a movie. I’m now 46 so this is a 30-year journey,” Kilbourn said.
The movie focuses on notorious gangster Al Capone who’s painting gets stolen from The Mob Museum.
“Our crew goes down to steal the painting and all heck breaks loose, car chase, building blows up and the painting gets destroyed, Kilbourn said.
FOX5 had a director’s view of the movie filming back in 2021 where there was a house explosion and car chase that was all filmed in Las Vegas.
It’s a city Kilbourn tells FOX5 he would not trade for anything.
“When you live in Las Vegas, you develop a really big love affair for the city and you discover the unique qualities about it,” Kilbourn said.
Not only is he the director and producer, but he is also the lead actor in his movie.
It gave him a chance to work with those he learned from like actor Clarence Gilyard who passed away before the film’s release.
“He wanted to play with us because he was a professor at UNLV and he wanted to act with his students,” Kilbourn said.
The movie premiers at a time when Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures are hinting at a move to Las Vegas.
“Vegas has got tons of great stories to tell and people are interested in Vegas all over the world,” Kilbourn said. “Vegas sells itself.”
“Action Action” will premiere at a private screening this weekend and then Kilbourn will pitch it to other film festivals and hopes a streaming platform will pick it up.
Kilbourn said a benefit of filming everything here in Las Vegas is that his budget was just under $1 million, however he believes if it was filmed in Los Angeles it would have cost a lot more.
