CAPE CORAL, Fla. – In a sweeping victory that reinforces the strong backing for conservative policies across the United States, the Republican State Leadership Committee has announced significant gains in state legislative chambers, with Florida playing a pivotal role in the narrative of Republican dominance.
“Last night, the American people delivered a resounding message: they want principled, conservative leadership at every level of government,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan.
“From President Trump’s decisive victory at the top of the ticket to down-ballot state Republicans across the country, voters have embraced Republican candidates and their policies to revive the economy, make our communities safer, and combat illegal immigration.”
Florida, long seen as a leader for national political trends, has further solidified its position as a conservative stronghold. The RSLC touted its efforts during the campaign to push for an expansion of Republican supermajorities in the chambers of the Florida legislature.
The consolidation of power means that for the foreseeable future, Florida’s legislative agenda will likely reflect conservative priorities, including policies aimed at revitalizing the economy, enhancing public safety and pushing for strict immigration control.
“With Republicans successfully defending and expanding their majorities in state legislative chambers nationwide, we are well-positioned to advance conservative policies in the states that will impact families for years to come,” Duncan said.
The RSLC announced it’s legislative targets in January 2024 with its focus on states like Arizona and New Hampshire. Then in March, the RSLC highlighted effective messaging to voters in battleground states and warned them against making their campaigns about Joe Biden alone. The work continued throughout the year with effective strategies targeting mail-in voting programs, the launch of its “Republican Roadmap” ad series, and targeting voters with a low propensity to cast their ballots.
When Biden exited the presidential election, the RSLC sent a memo to stay the course and keep the focus of campaigns on state level issues. In the final weeks of the election it announced its “Left’s Most Wanted” campaign targeting vulnerable Democrats in battleground states including Arizona, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.
The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest organization of Republican state leaders in the country and only national committee whose mission is to recruit, train, and elect Republicans to multiple down-ballot, state-level offices.
“Thanks to our growing network of grassroots supporters in all 50 states, we help deliver wins for Republican state legislators, lieutenant governors, secretaries of state, agriculture officials, and state judges across the country,” said Duncan.
