The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) has announced a new partnership with Monocle, the globally recognized media brand, to promote Greece as a premier travel destination.
The agreement, revealed during the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 exhibition in London, aligns with Greece’s strategy to be recognized as a leading, “top of mind” destination, offering diverse and unique experiences.
With a presence in over 80 countries, including major markets like the United States, the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, and Italy, Monocle will feature Greece in both its print and digital publications, Monocle and Konfect.
The announcement took place at a special event held at Monocle’s London offices, with Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni as the guest of honor. During her visit to London for WTM, where Greece was the premier partner, the minister discussed tourism-related issues and the sector’s challenges with Monocle’s editor, Andrew Tuck.
Minister Kefalogianni underlined Greece’s commitment to sustainable tourism, highlighting new government measures. She also outlined the efforts to extend Greece’s tourism season and acknowledged the significant increase in tourist arrivals this year.
The minister shared her vision of transforming Greece into a year-round destination. She noted that tourism revenues play a crucial role in supporting the national economy and local communities.
Additionally, she spoke about new investments in tourism infrastructure and the promotion of specialized tourism, such as wine tasting, gastronomy, spa, and agritourism.
Kefalogianni also highlighted the growing popularity of Athens as a year-round destination, particularly among young travelers, and the ongoing developments in the Athenian Riviera and the Ellinikon project.
The event was attended by journalists, tourism professionals, and business leaders from both Greece and the UK.
WTM London 2024 will run until Thursday, November 7.
