Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, is a day of remembering and honoring United States military veterans, and it’s coming up quickly.
Whether you are a veteran, have loved ones that are veterans, or you would just like to honor the individuals who served and sacrificed for the country, you may want to join one or more Veterans Day memorials and celebrations happening within the Binghamton area.
Here’s a quick look into some of the Veterans Day events coming up.
Veterans Day Celebration at The Discovery Center
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, The Discovery Center will be holding a Veteran’s Day Celebration.
According to the website, the event will have activities that “explore the origin” of Veterans Day along with allowing attendees to make and send cards to veterans in the community.
These activities are free with museum admission, however, active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their family members get free admission with a valid military ID.
Village of Endicott Veterans Day Events
- Veterans Day Flag Ceremony
- From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Village will be holding a Veterans Day Flag Ceremony at 1009 East Main St. in Endicott on Monday, Nov. 11.
- Veterans Day Parade
- From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Village will be holding a Veterans Day Parade on Monday, Nov. 11.
- The parade will go from North Street to Madison Street in Endicott.
SUNY Broome Veterans Day Ceremony
From 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, SUNY Broome will be holding a Veterans Day Ceremony to honor those that have served.
The ceremony will be held outside of the Student Services Building. If it rains, the ceremony will be held in the Calice Advanced Manufacturing Center Connector.
Binghamton Veterans Day Parade
The annual Binghamton Veteran’s Day will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 beginning at 1 p.m.
According to event manager Darlene Croston, the parade starts at the American Legion Post 80, located at 76 Main St. in Binghamton. The parade will end at the Broome County Courthouse.
Croston stated that the parade is “rain or shine.”

Kirkwood Veterans Day Ceremony
Beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, the Town of Kirkwood will be hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony at the Veterans River Park, located at 311 Main Street in Kirkwood.
The ceremony will include music, a moment of silence and guest speakers. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
