The Miami Book Fair is one of the best ways for book lovers to come together in an environment that’s full of exclusive author panels, fun for children in a designated children’s area, and lots of chances to shop and find your next read.
This year, the event is celebrating 41 years of being a true staple and the biggest literary event in Miami, featuring not only author presentations, but their popular street festival, where visitors to the fair kind find food, fun and book-related goodies.
We recommend stopping by the street festival, one of our favorite parts of the event. You might want to plan more than one day to enjoy the fair, for there is a lot to take in and enjoy.
The event runs from November 17 through 24 and is located around the Miami-Dade College downtown campus. It’s a lively one, one that brings the city to life, with eager attendees and some big author names taking over the college’s rooms for different conversations.
Expect panels for every taste, such as romance, fantasy, YA and many diverse authors featuring books with beautiful storytelling and everything that you can imagine offered to hungry readers. It’s an immersive experience, one that is as unforgettable as it is enjoyable.
This year, big names such as horror writer Stephen King will be there as part of a panel that celebrates his band Rock Bottom Remainders, one that he shares with other popular authors. Keep your eyes out for a performance by them which will surely blow your mind.
I will be part of an amazing panel joining some amazing YA authors titled “Blood, Iron & Fire: YA Fantasy Authors on Struggle, Secrets & Family.”
The panel will feature YA authors Alex Aster, Romina Garber, Tomi Ayedemi and LaDarrion Williams. Expect a lively conversation focusing on their popular fantasy stories, all as different as the next, but all connected when it comes to strong themes and characters representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
The panel will take place at 4 p.m. at the college’s The Art Lab (Building 1, First Floor, Room 1101). It promises to be a great conversation, with seasoned authors who enjoy their craft.
With many activities taking place, make sure that you visit the fair’s site and create a schedule before your visit. We highly recommend it, so you have a plan as to what you want to experience during your visit.
