AMES — All 91 second graders at Fellows Elementary School in Ames received a free copy of the book, “Just like Caitlin.”
Sevond Cole, principal at Fellows, said the school got the books, based about the life and career of former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball star Caitlin Clark, free of charge.
Other elementary schools in Ames, home of Iowa State University, did not respond for comment.
Every 2nd grader across the state of Iowa received a free ‘Just Like Caitlin’ book as a gift from one of Clark’s former coaches pic.twitter.com/tGbHqBVYMS

According to the book’s website, the pages contain a simple message: “Told through the storytelling of a loving grandfather to his basketball-loving granddaughter, “Just Like Caitlin” chronicles the life and career of Caitlin Clark, while also offering children a deeper lesson to remember what matters most in life: Not the championships we win, but the people we love along the way.”
People are also reading…
“By teaching children this value from a young age, they’ll learn how to work hard and dream big, but also what to do when things don’t turn out as they hoped. As they read about Caitlin’s incredible career, through ‘Just Like Caitlin,’ children around the world will certainly be inspired by her talent and accomplishments — but more so by the values she places on what’s truly important in life.”
It’s undoubtedly a positive message told about one of Iowa’s biggest stars. What’s not to like about second graders getting a free copy? Well, the CyHawk rivalry, for one.
The rivalry between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones led to a portion of Iowa State “burner” accounts creating some (possibly exaggerated) uproar on social media.
Another obnoxious example of Iowa fans thinking they represent the entire state and assuming everyone loves them
