According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals to the Maldives have increased by 9.5% compared to the same period last year.
The report reveals that 1,733,680 tourists visited the Maldives this year, surpassing projections and approaching the government’s annual target of two million arrivals.
China emerged as the top source market, contributing 243,843 visitors as of November 12. Russia followed with 193,726 arrivals, while the United Kingdom ranked third with 150,121 visitors. Germany came in fourth, with 133,384 tourists traveling to the Maldives.
The tourism sector, a cornerstone of the Maldivian economy, currently boasts 171 operational resorts, 14 hotels, 895 guesthouses, and 154 safari vessels, providing diverse accommodation options for visitors.
The steady growth in arrivals underscores the Maldives’ continued appeal as a premier global travel destination and the effectiveness of its tourism strategies.
