BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Bowling Green tourism initiatives and personnel are receiving statewide recognition.
The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit BGKY) earned a total of 19 awards from the Kentucky Travel Industry Association, which represents 900 members across the Commonwealth, according to a press release. The honors consisted of one gold, eight silver and 10 bronze awards.
In addition, Visit BGKY’s executive director Sherry Murphy received the Mangeot-Oaken Distinguished Service Award, which is the highest honor recognized in the tourism industry and akin to a lifetime achievement award.
“Sherry exemplifies professionalism, integrity and leadership in the tourism industry. Her passion for tourism is evident daily as head of our CVB in the fastest growing county in Kentucky,” Michelle Gorman, Visit BGKY board chairwoman, said. “We are so very fortunate to work and learn from her each day.”
