The number of tourists visiting Inwa during Tazaungdine has increased significantly compared to Thadingyut period and continues to be crowded, according to Bo Shake (Yadanapura), a historical researcher and writer.
Tourist arrivals in Inwa started on 14 November during Tazaungdine, and on 15 November, it became much crowded until 16 November.
“Tazaungdine is the period crowded with domestic tourists. Compared to Thadingyut, it is more crowded. Thadingyut was an example. As it is peaceful now, there are even more people. It was crowded from 14 till 16 November,” he said.
People especially visit Mel Nu Brick Monastery, Bagaya, elephant moat fort, Myint Mo Taung Zedi group and Lay Htet Gyi pagoda. Compared to last year, there has been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Inwa, and he welcomed it as the large number of visitors helps the livelihood of locals.
There is a significant increase in tourist arrivals on religious holidays in Inwa, and it is expected to be crowded during the coming New Years period as well, he added.
Major destinations of domestic tourists during Tazaungdine include Bagan-NyaungU, Popa, Chaungtha, Ngwesaung, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Bago. – MT/ZN
