The tourism industry in Fiji is seeing strong growth, despite facing challenges like rising marketing costs and stiff global competition, says Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill.
He said the Fijian dollar, which did not stretch as far in key markets like the USA and Australia, had made overseas promotion more expensive.
However, Mr Hill said strategic marketing efforts were yielding results.
“This includes increased visitor arrivals and recognition on global platforms, such as being ranked #3 by Lonely Planet, #1 by Conde Nast, the #1 Cruise Destination, and winning a Silver Effie for marketing excellence,” he said.
“These accolades are a testament to the strength of Fiji’s tourism offering.”
He said they were strategically focusing on promoting Fiji’s distinctiveness to the global market in future.
“We are leveraging the latest data and trends that highlight the growing demand for adventure, sports, MICE and wellness tourism as well as authentic cultural experiences.
“To meet this demand, we are bringing in events like AdventureNEXT Fiji, Spartan, WSL to showcase that Fiji is an ideal destination for these growing sectors.
“By aligning with global tourism trends, we aim to continue positioning Fiji as a top choice for travellers seeking these experiences.”
