UK tourists have been left “stressed” and “tired” as a result of administrative headaches in Italy. British holidaymakers have spoken out with warnings for UK expats venturing abroad for a new life, with Italy in the European Union a go-to for many.
Brad, who set up the YouTube channel Bradsworld, revealed that his family had to wait more than 400 days for their residency cards to arrive. “We moved to Italy more than a year ago and finally our residency cards are waiting over 400 days!” he shared in a clip. “Everything you hear about how difficult the government system here is true… Maybe worse!”
“If you send an email to a state agency – or a government agency – there’s a very good chance you’re not going to get a response”, Brad explained. “You [must] know a guy who knows a guy, or you know a girl who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a girl. It really is how things are run here”, he revealed.

Brad made the move to full-time living in Italy in 2023. He had spent the last 10 years thinking about his retirement plan. “We were looking to our retirement future and wondering how we could live a fulfilling life using only savings with the high cost of health insurance and property taxes. The answer for us was moving to Italy…” he said.
“I started BradsWorld on YouTube when I began purchasing income properties in Italy. I wanted others to see that it is not impossible to make a better life in a foreign country. We decided to buy these rental properties in Italy to help fund our retirement here.
“We have already purchased five different luxury apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany. My apartments are consistently rented for above average rents to tourists in one of the best wine areas of the world.”
