As a city of castle tea rooms, rugged rainforest trails, spectacular beaches and energetic street performers, perhaps it should come as no great surprise Victoria was again deemed a winner in Good Housekeeping’s 2025 Family Travel Awards.
The publication listed Greater Victoria as one of the Must-See Cities and gave it the title Eco Family Escape.
“Families move on a different frequency and Victoria moves with an energy to match,” said Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria, which made the announcement.
“We’re proud to be ranked on the list of must-visit destinations in 2025, and we’re excited to continue to share award-winning experiences with families and visitors from around the world.”
GH Family Travel Awards received hundreds of submissions this year, which travel editors and product experts at Good Housekeeping Institute spent nine months reviewing.

To name the best vacation destinations in different categories, a group of seasoned travel writers reviewed submissions and more than 100 testers then visited the places to assess based on standardized criteria.
“These reviewers shared insight on everything from dining options and cleanliness to the overall vibe of the destination,” reads the Good Housekeeping website.
Winners were selected based on attributes like quality, innovation, value, convenience, safety and more.
“The whole trip was fabulous,” one of the Good Housekeeping testers said on the awards web page. “The Butchart Gardens are some of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen, including in Europe. They’re stroller- and pet-friendly and wheelchair-accessible. Children especially loved the carousel!”
She added the overall vibe of Victoria was “upbeat, friendly, comfortable and safe.”
