The entrepreneurial spirit thrives in Pharr, Texas, as the first cohort of aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners completed the Kauffman FastTrac – En Español program at the Pharr Global Business Hub. This milestone marks a significant achievement for participants who, over seven intensive weeks, gained crucial skills in business planning, marketing, sales, financial management, and critical thinking.
Presented by the UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center (ECC) and sponsored by the Pharr Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the program empowered local entrepreneurs with the knowledge and confidence to launch or grow their businesses. By completing this comprehensive training, participants are now well-equipped to tackle the challenges of entrepreneurship, contributing to innovation and growth within their community.
Victor Perez, President & CEO of the Pharr EDC, emphasized the importance of initiatives like Kauffman FastTrac in driving economic progress: “Programs like Kauffman FastTrac are vital for economic development. They give entrepreneurs the tools and knowledge to turn their ideas into thriving businesses, fostering innovation and growth within our Pharr community.”
Beyond the coursework, graduates have entered a supportive network of like-minded individuals, fostered a collaborative spirit, and created opportunities to share insights and experiences. The completion of this program not only advances the careers of these new business leaders but also strengthens the local economy, paving the way for continued growth and development.
The UTRGV ECC, located within the Pharr Global Business Hub, serves as a real-life entrepreneurial laboratory, offering a space where entrepreneurs from within and beyond the university can collaborate, seize new opportunities, and create value. The Business Incubator, a core feature of the ECC, provides a virtual space designed to cater to the needs of both emerging and established businesses. Key offerings include tiered incubation programs, custom incubation curricula, access to community workstations, high-speed internet, video conferencing, and semi-private office spaces equipped with technology.
As the first group of Kauffman FastTrac – En Español graduates embark on their entrepreneurial journeys, the community looks forward to celebrating their future successes and their lasting impact on the local economy.
