Based across regional Australia and in major cities, these roles will support high growth industries and geographies to support the nation’s economy in the coming years.
Anthony Mathews, National General Manager, SME & Small Business at Westpac said this is a further demonstration of Westpac’s intent to back more businesses in Australia.
“Small businesses and SMEs are the engine room of the Australian economy, making up 98% of all businesses in this country. We’re here to support more great Australian success stories in the future.
“We currently employ more than 500 small business and SME experts, and we want to expand this by a further 200. We’re looking for the best bankers to join us at Westpac where you’ll have the opportunity to thrive and grow in a highly engaged working environment.
“The opportunity is huge. In 2023-24, more than 73,000 new businesses were established and we’re looking to support more growth in communities like Cabramatta in Sydney, Toowoomba in Queensland, and Albany in WA.
“Our people have deep relationships and expertise within their communities and can help business owners get their businesses going and growing by supporting with quick access to finance, cash flow solutions, and business planning expertise.
“Businesses have been resilient during the economic slowdown over the past years. As conditions are predicted to ease in the next period and consumers become more optimistic, there’s never been a better time to say we’re open for business by adding passionate bankers to our team,” Mr Mathews said.
Westpac has already commenced hiring for the new bankers, with the aim of 200 being onboard by the end of 2027. All new bankers are supported with anonboarding program and the right tools for success. Roles are open to both internal and external candidates to meet the growing need for banking expertise for business owners across Australia.
