ARLO HOTELS NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
Arlo Hotels has welcomed Jimmy Suh as the company’s president. He steps into the role with more than 20 years of leadership experience in the hospitality experience.
Suh has held a series of executive roles at lifestyle hotel brands, including Kimpton, Loews and The Standard hotels, where he envisioned and formed brand marketing, revenue and guest experience strategies. He joined Arlo Hotels in July 2021 as chief commercial officer, responsible for revenue maximization, profitability, marketing, brand value, public relations and stakeholders’ returns.
As president, Suh will lead the next stage of company’s growth, overseeing the hotels operations and marketing, elevating guest experience and maximizing the brand value for both guests and stakeholders.
JOHN LUCKETT RETURNS TO KESSLER
Kessler, the family-led hospitality brand with boutique hotels, restaurants and experiences across the Southeast, has appointed John Luckett as president of hospitality operations. After serving as Kessler’s CEO, he will be returning to the brand and expanding his previous 15-year tenure. He will oversee the company’s hospitality, sales and marketing, information technology, human resources and operations sectors.
Luckett brings three decades of experience to his new role. Prior to his current role, he served as the chief operating officer at MasterCorp, Inc where he implemented effective strategies for hotel and laundry services alongside managing operations focused on excelling performance, strategic execution and resource management.
“The Kessler family has shaped who I am as a hotelier throughout my career and my combined background as a general manager and as a member of Kessler’s leadership team will provide a dual perspective for the continued growth of the brand, while also paving success at each property,” Luckett said.
TONY MOSCA’S NEW ROLE AT ROSEWOOD WASHINGTON, D.C.
Rosewood Washington, D.C. has named Tony Mosca as the hotel’s new managing director. He will lead all operational aspects of Rosewood Washington, D.C. Mosca joins from The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel in New York City, where he served as hotel manager.
Mosca began his journey with Rosewood in 2014 as director of food and beverage at The Carlyle and assisted in the revitalization of the hotel’s culinary venues. Originally from Australia, he has worked as a leader in F&B and grew within the industry with Starwood and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Australia, London and the U.S.
L+R HOTELS
L+R Hotels has added to its senior leadership team with the appointment of Joe Pettigrew as group chief commercial officer. He will be responsible for integrating and leading the group’s commercial strategies on revenue, distribution, sales and marketing to maximize efficiencies, increase profitability and accelerate the global growth of the group’s portfolio.
Pettigrew’s initial areas of focus will include leveraging the group’s 23,000-room portfolio to create a more integrated operating platform, developing a consolidated distribution strategy and architecture, supporting the upcoming launch of significant projects in global destinations and working with L+R’s New York City-based team to further expand the group’s footprint in North America.
The L+R Hotels commercial teams in the Americas, Europe and U.K. will report directly to Pettigrew. He will report directly to Cody Bradshaw, group CEO and work in close partnership with Andy Fish, group CFO; Neil Kirk, CEO, U.K. & Europe; and Charles Macon, CEO, Americas on portfolio strategy and execution. Pettigrew will be based in London.
OTHER MOVES
The Central Romana Corp. appointed Jason Kycek to chief marketing officer of its hospitality, tourism and real estate division. He will oversee the corporation’s brand, communication and marketing strategies, while continuing his role as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas.
Since joining Casa de Campo in January 2017, Kycek has led the company to consecutive record-breaking sales years. He has facilitated the company’s growth and overall sales as well as marketing and revenue strategies while elevating the guest experience and ensuring continued profitability for shareholders. Previously, Kycek served as the vice president of sales and marketing for Occidental Hotels and Resorts.
Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG) has expanded its executive team with the promotion of Cory Chambers to executive vice president, chief commercial and analytics officer, and its leadership team by promoting Maggie Rosa to vice president of operations.
Chambers will work with the team to build and drive cross-functional strategies to better serve hotel general managers, their teams and hotel owners. Chambers also will continue to lead the HVMG revenue excellence team in maximizing market share growth and leading the team to deliver revenue strategies, systems and processes to above-property operations team members, hotel teams and hotel owners. With more than 25 years of experience in hospitality, Chambers previously worked with White Lodging.
Rosa will spearhead the operational performance of a portfolio of full-service and select-brand hotels while fostering relationships with owners. With more than two decades of operations experience, she began her hospitality career with Marriott International, originally serving as operations department head of the Marina Del Rey Marriott.
Adrienne Breaux has been named director of sales and marketing at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans.
With more than 10 years of experience as an executive committee member in the hotel industry, Breaux joins The Royal Sonesta New Orleans from the Hyatt Centric French Quarter, where she served as director of sales and marketing.
NEW GMs
Vakkaru Maldives has appointed Teddy Susanto Wiryawan as general manager. Bringing more than 20 years of luxury hospitality experience to his new role, he will oversee the resort’s operations, leading the team to elevate its offerings and guest experience.
Wiryawan has joined Vakkaru Maldives from Hyatt, where he served as general manager for six years across several Alila Hotels in Southeast Asia. His career also includes leadership roles across the world, from Thailand to the Caribbean.
Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows has appointed Simon A. Fricker as general manager. He brings more than two decades of experience to his new role, where he will focus on amplifying the hotel’s service standards and developing new experiences for guests.
Fricker previously served as restaurant manager at Boston’s Westin Copley Place and progressed to leadership roles at several other hotels. He has also served as managing director of Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club.
Andaz Miami Beach has appointed Fernando Rivera as general manager. He will helm the redesign and full transformation of The Confidante Miami Beach, owned by Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc., into the Andaz Miami Beach hotel. The hotel is slated to open in December.
With around 30 years of experience to his new role, Rivera has built a career in Miami’s hospitality scene holding positions such as hotel manager at Kimpton EPIC Hotel, pre-opening general manager at Kimpton Palomar South Beach and general manager at Kimpton Angler’s South Beach.
Juha Mähönen has joined The Hotel Maria as its new CEO and general manager. Bringing more than 40 years of international experience in hotel management, he earlier served as managing director (CEO) at Hotel Haikko Manor & Spa for more than 12 years.
Mähönen has held senior roles in his native Finland and in Europe, including general manager, country manager and regional director with the Reval Hotels Group in the Baltics and as general manager of Radisson Blu Olümpia Hotel in Estonia. He has also worked at international hotel chains, such as InterContinental and Scandic Hotels.
