Isabella Dicken Elementary School’s giant used book sale on Nov. 14 raised over $6,000.
The school has found new homes for 7,552 of its 11,000 used books, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, young adult literature, and graphic novels. Titles were gathered through a school-wide book drive last year.
Some of the books were donated to the school library, local preschools and programs like One to One Reading.
Funds generated from the event pushed the school well over its original goal of $5,000. The money will help purchase supplies for teachers and youth, and fund school events and a reading incentive program for students.
Parent Advisory Committee chair Carolyn Giffin said they plan to make the book sale a yearly event going forward.
