Just in time for the holiday season! A holiday movie that was filmed in Las Cruces, New Mexico will premiere next month and it already sounds like the perfect holiday treat!
Seeing as how Hallmark has already begun their holiday festivities (since JUNE!) this one sounds like it’s coming in a little late, but nonetheless, many are excited to see the city of crosses come to life in this new holiday film!
The holiday film written, produced, and directed by New Mexicans, is set to premiere in early December and is titled: “Santa’s Cousin”.
Created by New Mexico film company Inspirado Films along with New Mexico State University (NMSU) and Heartstrings Media, the film follows the heart-warming story of Santa’s reluctant cousin, who saves a Christmas Jubilee for the picturesque town of Ruidoso and even finds love along the way.
According to KRQE News, about three dozen NMSU students took part in the production, and it was filmed not only throughout Las Cruces but parts of southern New Mexico in October and November of last year.
The movie will star well-known Hallmark actors Jonathan Stoddard, who has been in movies such as “A Royal Christmas Holiday” and “A Royal Christmas On Ice”, along with Alexandra Harris who has starred in “Christmas at the Amish Bakery”.
The film will also star the man with the most acting credits in Hollywood, Eric Roberts.
Many of us are quite aware that New Mexico is a hot spot for the film industry- this news comes right after we all found out that Ari Aster and Joaquin Phoenix were spotted in the Albuquerque area for their new film that also includes Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler!
“Santa’s Cousin” will premiere December 4 at Allen Theatres Cineport 10 in Las Cruces.
