The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has announced the completion of the Pob.4016 road construction project, linking Highway 3187 to Ban Puk Tien.
The new 10.3-kilometre road is expected to enhance regional connectivity, support local tourism, and improve access to key destinations.
The project, which cost 125 million baht, extends from kilometre marker 6+809 to kilometre marker 17+109, beginning at Klong Sai 2. The newly constructed road features a 7-metre-wide asphalt concrete surface with two lanes, complemented by shoulders measuring between 1 and 2.5 metres on each side. Additional infrastructure improvements include an expanded bridge, reinforced concrete drainage systems, circular culverts, street lighting, and traffic signage to ensure the safety of road users.
Montri Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the DRR, highlighted the road’s importance in strengthening transportation links between Tha Yang and Kaeng Krachan districts. The improved route provides more efficient and safer travel, benefiting local residents and travellers alike.
“The completion of this project marks a significant step in upgrading rural road standards in the region,” Mr Montri said. “It will facilitate the movement of agricultural goods, enhance daily commutes, and support economic growth in local communities.”
The new road is also strategically aligned with the double-track railway project, as it crosses near Nong Chok Railway Station. This integration between road and rail networks is designed to create seamless connections for passengers and freight, while offering greater accessibility for surrounding areas.
In addition to improving transportation, the road is expected to boost tourism in Phetchaburi Province by providing better access to popular beach destinations, including Puk Tien Beach and Cha-Am Beach. The enhanced connectivity is anticipated to attract more visitors and support the tourism-driven economy in the region.
The road is now open to the public, offering a smoother and more reliable route for those travelling within Phetchaburi and beyond.
