REDDING, Calif. — Some people are dealing with the stormy weather by getting warm meals at restaurants across the Northstate.
The owner of the Tye Dye Cafe on Hartnell Avenue, Josh Jarred, told KRCR their team is seeing more customers with heavier rainfall.
The cafe has been around for about two and a half years, serving breakfast and lunch to customers. Jarred said business has been fluctuating throughout the storm this week, with a higher number of people stopping by to get food on rainy days.
He said many customers are elderly or retirees, along with some younger people around their 20s.
“It’s been on and off. Sometimes it’s been slammed, sometimes it’s been slow, really it kind of goes with the weather… When it’s really wet, we get a little more people in,” Jarred said before adding, “Maybe people just wanting to get out of the rain and get some food at the same time, either warm themselves up or get dry one way or the other.”
Their staff has also served truckers who have had to stop due to Northstate road closures.
Jarred told the Northstate’s News that, during the cold, rainy weather, people often order meals like biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, or soup. Customers tell him the windy weather has been the toughest to deal with.
He said business is pretty on point for what they normally get during this season, adding, “A lot of people’s family coming to town this time of year too, so we get a big uptick of that, where one or two people normally will come in with three to five, so, travelers coming in with their friends and family.”
