Alex Chan and Andy Hsu, co-founders of MotionGrey were named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
MotionGrey’s journey started when, at 16, Alex started buying and selling phones. His father introduced him to finance and self-help books, which sparked his interest in passive income.
Determined to build capital for income-generating assets, he quickly grew his phone business by learning to unlock, repair and import phone accessories from overseas to sell locally.
While studying at university, he discovered e-commerce and was drawn to its efficiency, as sales could be made without meeting customers in person.
In 2017, after meeting his business partner, Andy Hsu, Alex transitioned into importing gaming chairs and later expanded into office furniture, home furniture, exercise equipment and electric transportation, founding MotionGrey.
Since then, together, Alex and Andy have scaled the business with a focus on sustainability and customer satisfaction, all while fostering a positive work environment.
Their dedication to quality, customer service and community impact truly sets them apart as a leading young business in the region.
Both Andy and Alex have demonstrated exceptional leadership, brand, team culture, business model and financial success.
Together, they have also made contributions to the community by donating to local giveaways and participating in panels at UBC to inspire students to pursue entrepreneurship.
