Disney+ is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated series, ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,’ with a special filmmaker roundtable that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show. The roundtable, released by Disney+, features key creatives including Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and David Lowery, who discuss their roles in bringing this new chapter of the Star Wars universe to life.
The series follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, only to find themselves lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. As they navigate their way back home, they encounter unlikely allies and enemies, embarking on an adventure greater than they ever imagined.
Jon Watts, who serves as the head writer and executive producer alongside Christopher Ford, shared the origins of the show. Watts mentioned that the idea was pitched to Jon Favreau during the filming of the third Spider-Man movie, and Favreau’s enthusiasm led to the involvement of Dave Filoni and other notable producers.
The series boasts an impressive directorial lineup, including Watts, who directed two episodes, as well as Lee Isaac Chung, David Lowery, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Schreier, and the Daniels. The cast includes Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost. Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson are among the executive producers.
‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is set to premiere on December 3, 2024, with the first two episodes available exclusively on Disney+.
