Muscat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has issued two key tenders aimed at further developing tourism and maximising local content within Oman’s heritage and tourism sectors. Both tenders are open for local consultancy bids, reflecting the sultanate’s commitment to advancing tourism and heritage sectors through targeted expertise in planning, investment and local content strategy.
The first tender – Provision of Consultancy Service to Develop and Support Implementation of Local Content Blueprint Strategy for Heritage and Tourism Sectors – calls for consultancy services focused on establishing a comprehensive local content blueprint.
This project is geared towards increasing Oman’s local engagement in the heritage and tourism sectors by fostering Omani job opportunities, expanding the use of locally manufactured products and enhancing local supplier networks. This strategy includes promoting Omanisation, improving training and development, and encouraging investment in fixed assets in alignment with Oman’s broader economic objectives for sustainable development.
The blueprint will outline strategies for incorporating Omani products, services and suppliers into the sectors, and establish measures to support local training, research and educational institutions.
The second tender – Consulting Services to Provide Technical Support in Planning and Investment in the Tourism Sector – seeks consultants with expertise in urban and civil engineering, architecture, project management and environmental engineering. The project involves developing tourism sector plans, establishing investment controls and procedures, and monitoring the progress of tourism projects.
Additionally, the appointed consultant will review technical, economic and environmental studies for tourism projects and prepare training programmes to enhance skills of workers in tourism planning and investment.
