As the days and nights get chillier, nothing much beats curling up with a blanket, best buddies and a good movie as you bask in holiday cheer. The Olde Towne Depot can help with that.
The Polar Express Pajama Party, planned for Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7, at the Olde Towne Depot in Clinton, offers a beloved holiday favorite and a prime opportunity to celebrate the season.
The animated 2004 Christmas film The Polar Express sweeps a young boy along on a magical adventure to the North Pole aboard a mysterious train on Christmas Eve. Based on the children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, it warms the heart with themes of friendship, bravery and Christmas spirit, and amps up the thrills with stunning visuals and plenty of action. Tom Hanks, always a welcome presence, voices several roles in the movie.
“Obviously, being at the Depot, we love all things trains, and it’s a very classic Christmas movie,” Olde Towne Depot Manager and Main Street Clinton Assistant Director Ashley Hammack said. “We invite families to come out and bring blankets and pillows for a showing of the movie. We serve cocoa, give everyone a cute little bell and have cookies and little treats for them.”
“Come and enjoy a movie and family time,” Hammack said.
Kids of all ages are welcome. Turner the Train rides beforehand will get things rolling. For a new twist this year, Hammack plans to make individual train cars from cardboard boxes, so kids can sit in their own “box car” to enjoy the film.
Three showings this year make it easy for families with young children to pick a convenient time. Showings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, and at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7.
Space is limited to about fifty people per showing. Tickets are $10 per person; children must be accompanied by at least one adult.
The Olde Towne Depot is located at 281 East Leake Street. For more information, call 601-924-5472.
