bluefield – Young people interested in exploring the possibilities of creating and operating their own business are being encouraged to pursue these dreams when Small Business Saturday comes to the city of Bluefield.
Small Business Saturday comes on Nov. 30 this year as people are encouraged to shop locally and discover what small businesses and locally-owned stores have to offer shoppers seeking to fulfill Christmas wishing this holiday shopping season.
To help young entrepreneurs who want to participate, the Bluefield Economic Development Authority is offering advice to help them get started.
“We’re looking forward to an amazing time together at the Youth Pop-Up Event on Saturday, Nov. 30,” Executive Director Jim Spencer and Operations Manager Dee Puckett said in a release Tuesday. “This will be a fun day for everyone, and we’re here to make sure it’s a great experience for your young business star.”
To help young entrepreneurs and their families get ready, the development authority has put together some tips for getting started, Spencer said.
“Getting a little prepared can make things feel easier and even more exciting,” Spencer said. “We know this might be a new adventure for your child, and we’re here to support him or her every step of the way. We’re excited to connect with you and your young entrepreneur in preparation for the big day! To ensure everyone feels confident and well-prepared, we’d love to set up a Zoom call to chat, answer any questions, and go over any final details.”
The development authority offers flexible scheduling to take work and school into account.
“We understand your family has other commitments, such as work and school, so we’re happy to offer flexible scheduling,” he said. “Please let us know what date and time works for you. We look forward to hearing from you and cannot wait to meet you all on Nov. 30.”
The development authority still has spots available for the Youth Pop-Up Event. Young entrepreneurs can still apply by emailing Spencer at [email protected] or Puckett at [email protected].
“We still have room and we would love to have them,” Spencer said.
