Firms operating across a variety of sectors and from every corner of the North West feature in Insider’s Family Business 100 which includes a host of well-known names.
The companies in the list are ranked by turnover and is topped by Blackburn’s EG Group which was founded in 2001 by the Issa family with the acquisition of a single site in the UK.

The accountancy and professional employment business founded by Helen and Damian Broughton in Lancashire in 1999 has grown to serve over 7,500 clients and employ over 200 people.
It started with Danbro Accounting, which Damian came up with the idea for after being made redundant. Both Damian and Helen had grown up with family businesses (Helen’s Parents were farmers) and even when the business was young planned for it to grow into a bigger company, investing in IT and an office, as well as working with a marketing company even in the early stages.
The company provides financial services to businesses, contractors, self-employed individuals, freelancers, as well as financial planning services, umbrella employment services, mortgage and protection services, among others.
According to Experian data, Danbro’s most recent figures record a turnover of just over £485m in 2023, almost double its 2021 turnover figure.
