Brad Pitt ‘fainted’ while filming a dramatic scene for his upcoming Formula 1 movie at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Hollywood A-lister has been spotted at various races this season, getting into character for the film which is co-produced by F1 legend Lewis Hamilton and features British actor Damson Idris.
As George Russell took pole position, Pitt was on track portraying Sonny Hayes and was seen in fan footage stumbling from a crash site before collapsing onto a mat. APX GP, the fictional team in the movie, issued a faux statement: “During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation,” it stated.
“Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny’s health remains our top priority. While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow’s race as he focuses on recovery.”
The statement continued, “The entire team stands behind him, and we’ll provide updates when available. Joshua [Pearce, played by Idris] will race solo tomorrow, carrying the team forward.”
The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, also stars Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia among others, reports the Mirror.
Hamilton has been closely involved with the film’s production to ensure its authenticity. The film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, recently confessed that Hamilton’s input has led to additional costs due to necessary changes.
“Everything that he has brought to this movie, I cannot even express our thanks to him and all the folks from F1 who made this all possible,” said Bruckheimer. “The authenticity that he brings, we just cannot imagine what goes into what a driver does and what the sport brings to an audience.”
He added: “Sometimes we do not like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things, but we are all in, we want to make it great, and he is certainly helping us.”
