I’m 59 years old and have had my own chiropractic practice for 32 years. I’ve recently been thinking about my second act but I’m hitting a brick wall. Before I leave my practice I would love to have a plan. I just don’t know where to begin. Any ideas?
Well, if you hurt yourself hitting that brick wall I know a good chiropractor. Sorry, couldn’t resist making a crack (sorry again!)
You’re smart to have a plan, because you’ve invested a lot of time in honing your craft and in building up a practice to just walk away from it, even if you are ready to move on. You first need to discover what else it is that you love to do, or would love to do.
Obviously the possibilities are personal to your interests and skill sets. Are you looking to stay in the health and wellness space in another capacity? Or do you want to do something completely different? Perhaps consider a transition, where you spend part time on your practice and part time exploring other passions, maybe taking some courses, or learning a different trade.
Making a career change is a big adjustment so whatever’s due next has to feel right in your core.
