According to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, more than 130,000 tourists from China, Japan and Russia visited travel destinations in Myanmar within ten months from January to October 2024.
In detail, it was a total of 120,853 Chinese, 15,726 Japanese and 2,975 Russians.
Myanmar has granted arrival tour visas for persons who hold the passports of Japan, the Republic of Korea and the Macau Special Administrative Region of China commencing on 21 October 2024 for one year.
A national-level tourism exhibition is projected to be held in 2025 to promote the tourism industry of Myanmar. The exhibition will be organized by the Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) and its associates.
The Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA), one of the sister associations of the MTF, also plans to host a tourism expo in June 2025. The tour agencies are expanding the tourism market to attract more inbound tourists in 2025. — ASH/TMT
