OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Legislature’s website has received a refresh ahead of the 2025 session.
The Legislative Service Center (LEG-TECH) built the new website to make the interface more intuitive for citizens hoping to track down policy information.
Leg.WA.gov’s fresh coat of paint comes just in time for changes in leadership in both legislative chambers.
Spokane’s Senator-elect Marcus Riccelli (D) will serve as the floor leader in the State Senate, while Senator Jamie Pedersen (D) will be majority leader. Laurie Jenkins (D) will continue to serve as the Speaker of the House, where she has overseen each legislative session since 2020.
Pedersen and Jenkins serving as Senate and House leaders respectively marks the first time that both of a state legislature’s chambers have been led by LGBTQ+ people.
2025 will mark a shift in Washington’s politics, both due to new leadership in the Senate Those hoping to monitor the new dynamic between the governor’s office and the legislature will be able to do so using an updated website.
