The IPL 2025 auction came to an end as all the 10 teams have filled up their squads for the upcoming season. A total of 182 players, including 62 overseas stars, were sold during the 2-day event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a total of Rs 639.15 crore being spent by the franchises.
Rishabh Pant emerged as the costliest buy of the auction at 27 Crore, while Shreyas Iyer was a close second. KKR surprised everyone when they shelled out Rs. 23.75 Crore to bring back Venakesth Iyer to the franchise, while the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the fairytale story of the event. The youngster bagged 1.1 Crore and went to Rajasthan Royals where he would grow under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid.

IPL Auction 2025: Full list of sold and unsold players
While Royal Challengers Bengaluru were initially a bit shy in the proceedings, they quickly made up for lost time with some big purchases of Phil Salt and Josh Hazlewood. Punjab Kings were undoubtedly the big spenders as they would also give 18 Crore each to Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Mumbai Indians would trump RCB to get Will Jacks in a big deal while there was a happy homecoming for R Ashwin at CSK.
While at the end of the day, the winners of the auction seem to be Gujarat Titans, here’s the verdict from our team about the business done on November 24 and 25 and who ended up aceing it.
Nikhil Naz: Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans seemed to have picked the most well rounded squad this IPL and look like the favourites to win their second title. For one they’ve kept their core. And don’t seems to have any weak areas be it their batting, pacers, spinners or captaincy. To top it all they have a great bench with enough pacers, spinners and batters in reserve.
Akshay Ramesh: Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Yes, RCB was not the best team on the auction table. However, considering their past performances, Andy Flower and Dinesh Karthik seemed to have got a lot of things right this time. While they were criticised for not going big for the marquee players, they made smart buys, With the signings of Josh Hazlewood, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, RCB have an experienced core. Adding Rasikh Dhar, Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya makes their Indian contingent strong. Jacob Bethell is a strong addition too. Okay, let’s forget what happened to Will Jacks!
Diya Kakkar: Gujarat Titans
Amid all the giants of IPL like CSK, MI and RCB, one team that doesn’t get the hype that it deserves is GT. They had by far one of the best auctions for IPL 2025. Imagine a blockbuster opening pair with Gill and Buttler and the likes of Tewatia and Sherfane Rutherford for finishing role. A strong core of spin bowlers with Rashid, Sai Kishore already being there and the management also acquires a spin-bowling all-rounder in Washington Sundar. There biggest strength is in their pace bowling with Rabada, Siraj and Coetzee in their ranks. Good backups and all bases covered.
Sabyasachi Chowdhury: Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB have a strong squad at their disposal with most of their bases covered. With Romario Shepherd, Liam Livingstone, Krunal Pandya and Jacob Bethell, not only do they have a power-packed middle order but also useful bowlers. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s experience is going to come in handy for them. In Phil Salt, they have one of the best openers in world cricket for now. Nuwan Thushara is unorthodox and also has a T20I hat-trick to his name. Yash Dayal and Rasikh Salam are proven customers and strengthen their Indian bowling. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar give solidity to their top order.
Siddharth Vishwanathan: Chennai Super Kings
If one has to look at a side that ticked most boxes in the IPL Mega Auction, it has to be Chennai Super Kings. The inclusion of Ashwin and Noor is a clear cut indication of the nature of wickets Chennai will prepare for their strengths in Chepauk. On the other hand there is stability and power in the batting. Devon Conway at the top plus some power in Shivam Dube makes the batting potent in addition to Ruturaj Gaekwad’s consistency.
Harshit Ahuja: Gujarat Titans
The idea behind a mega auction is to bolster the side and we have seen teams in the past fail to do so. In the case of GT, who finished 8th last season, it may appear that they needed to do a lot of rebuilding but given their smart retentions and the new purchases, they do have a quality side. They truly look like a side that can challenge for the title. Pacy bowlers, swashbuckling batters, they seem to have nailed the squad.
Rishabh Beniwal: Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have the best well rounded squad after the IPL 2025 mega auction as they managed to sign several good players to complement their strong Indian core. The addition of overseas stars Trent Boult, Reece Topley, Mitchell Santner and Will Jacks have added more firepower in all departments which are ominous signs for the other franchises. The mystery of spinner Allah Ghazanfar is set to leave numerous top batters bamboozled while Deepak Chahar’s swing ensures that the fast bowling remains relentless. Uncapped stars Naman Dhir, Robin Minz among others are also likely to make a name for themselves like several other players who’ve flourished in MI.
Alan John: Gujarat Titans
There is no doubt that Gujarat Titans aced the IPL 2025 auction. The buys of Jos Buttler and Kagiso Rabada add a new dimension to the GT side that seemed to have slowed down a bit last season. Rabada and Mohammed Siraj could end up being the most feared pace attacking duo in IPL next year. The inclusion of Washington Sundar will provide some much-needed balance while Glenn Phillips and Sherfane Rutherford will act as the finishers in the squad along with Rahul Tewatia. All this is without adding the presence of Rashid Khan. A truly solid team who could end up being the favourites for the title.
Krishan Kumar: Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad has made some of the most remarkable deals in the IPL auction. After the departure of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the team needed an Indian pacer, and they brought in Mohammed Shami to fill that gap. They also added Ishan Kishan, a specialist wicketkeeper who can serve as both an opener and a middle-order batsman. Furthermore, Harshal Patel, known for his expertise in delivering slower balls during death overs, has been included in the squad.
With a bowling attack featuring Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Jaydev Unadkat, the team boasts a perfect balance. Given their auction purse, the management has made smart investments. Additionally, their opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma is expected to deliver explosive starts, adding significant strength to their lineup.
