DES MOINES, Iowa — Whether you’re ready to shop ’til you drop or you’re still recovering from a turkey-induced food coma, there’s still plenty to do in the days following Thanksgiving.
Local 5 rounded up five events taking place in the Des Moines metro to help you make the most of your Thanksgiving weekend.

- When: Thursday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30, 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Experience the magic of Disney right here in Des Moines. “Mickey’s Search Party” features fan-favorite characters from “Moana,” “Coco,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Frozen” and more. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, you’re sure to enjoy this show.

- Where: East Village
- Price: Free to attend
Celebrate Small Business Saturday early by heading to the East Village. During the Holiday Promenade event, businesses in the area extend their hours and offer festive fun, such as holiday-themed activities, live entertainment and more.
While you’re in the area, check out concurrent events such as Miracle on E. 5th Street and the DSM Flea event at the AC Hotel.

This isn’t your typical Turkey Trot. Runners are invited to don their most festive holiday costumes to run three blocks through Valley Junction. To up the stakes, organizers will give out three prizes: one for speed, the other two for creativity.
Afterwards, runners can visit the many local shops and restaurants in Valley Junction in honor of Small Business Saturday.

Billed as “a craft fair like no other,” the first ever Val Air Holiday Fair will feature more than 45 homemade and vintage vendors. Pick up unique goodies for your loved ones (and yourself!) right inside the Val Air Ballroom.

When you’re done with your Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping, watch Drake’s hometown team face Georgia Southern at the Knapp Center. The Bulldogs are currently 6-0 under new Head Coach Ben McCollum.
