Netflix’s new Lindsay Lohan Christmas extravaganza has come in just in time for the holiday season. Our Little Secret follows Avery, a young woman who has everything in life until her mother suddenly passes, and she decides to move to London for her dream job. At this time, Avery’s dating Logan, a man she’s known all her life, a man who her father thinks is so perfect for her that they can take things to the finish line. However, during Avery’s going-away party, Logan decides to make a scene and propose to her drunkenly. This, of course, doesn’t go down well, and when Avery says no, he makes things worse by saying she’s running away rather than flying off to her dream job. 10 years later, Avery and Logan are happy in their own separate lives until they become shockingly intertwined when they have to spend Christmas together in the same household thanks to their partners being siblings. Knowing the film’s called Our Little Secret, I’m sure you can figure out what comes next—Avery asks Logan to keep the whole thing secret because if people find out they used to date, they’ll imagine them having “s-e-x.” This is of course unacceptable, so Logan agrees, and that’s where the little secret is born. But will they get a happy ending, and together? Let’s find out.
Spoiler Alert
Does Avery Manage to Impress Erica?
In Our Little Secret, Cassie is Logan’s girlfriend and Cameron is Avery’s boyfriend, but there’s also a third brother named Callum. Callum’s the troublemaker of the house, and you can imagine he’s always looking for trouble at the ripe age of 18. While Erica, their mum, immediately loves Logan, she doesn’t quite feel the same about Avery. This is probably because Cam’s a mama’s boy and all that jazz. Aside from making fun of Cassie being years younger than Logan, Avery is desperate to impress Erica. But things become worse when Sophie, Cam’s old friend, is in town to celebrate as well. See, apparently they’ve been friends from the crib, but Cam’s never mentioned her to Avery. Hey, look, they’re meant for each other.
It so happens that everybody’s terribly busy, so Logan and Avery have to go together to pick up the tree. You know, just put the outsiders together (why?). Logan thinks Avery’s coat isn’t warm enough for the trip and gives her Callum’s puffer jacket from the coat rack. What he doesn’t know is that there’s candy in there with weed gummy bears. The day goes pretty normal until Logan asks Avery to help him with a business proposal for Sophie’s dad, and in return he can help her become Erica’s favorite. Avery’s hesitant at first, but then when she gets a call from Cam about bringing home some wine, she decides it’s not a terrible idea. On the way back home, Avery’s hungry and finds the gummy bears in the puffer jacket. She eats a bunch without reading the cover. What’s worse is that Logan has set her up for some public speaking at church to impress the family. Now, under normal circumstances, this may not have been that bad, but considering she’s high as a kite, Avery blanks out and instead recites the lyrics to a “Kool & The Gang” song. Fortunately for her, the church loves it, but Erica doesn’t.
Back at home, Avery helps with Logan’s presentation at night, but she’s also super hungry, so she ends up eating around 15 of Erica’s special cookies that she made for a cookie exchange. The next morning, using Logan’s help to distract Erica, Avery makes it look like Veronica the dog’s eaten all the cookies, but this isn’t enough. She then has to bribe the vet to leave the dog alone and just pretend like he’s pumping her stomach. He agrees after she talks about in-laws, and this is what truly impresses Erica. Well, not the bribery part; she doesn’t know about that. But how brave Avery is during the scary-looking and sounding procedure.
How Does Everyone Learn the Truth?
Now one problem’s solved, but Avery does notice how close Cam and Sophie seem, and it makes her a little bit worried. On the other hand, Callum overhears a conversation between Avery and Logan, so he uses that to his advantage and makes them do stuff for him if they don’t want him to speak. Cam gets super drunk when they’re at the local pub, but Avery has to go back to her dad’s house for the realtor (in the middle of the night?). Make it make sense. Logan offers to drive her, which makes Cassie upset, of course, but Cam seems totally fine with the idea. At the house, Avery opens up for the first time since her mother’s passing, and she admits that she wants the house for herself because it’s where all her memories with her mum are. She also says that she misses her, and the two of them just stay there together for a bit, to take it all in.
Chaos ensues on Christmas Eve when Callum asks Logan for his Secret Santa gift because he hasn’t bought one for his mum, Erica. Logan can give it to him because he has to gift Avery, so nobody will know anything’s missing. However, he accidentally gives him the lingerie that he bought for Cassie instead. On the other hand, Logan also catches Erica’s husband Leonard and Sophie’s mom Margaret together (oh boy). But things really get out of hand when Logan’s mom and grandma show up because Erica’s invited them over thinking Logan’s going to propose (he wants to make a business proposition to Sophie’s dad, ma’am, please). Now Logan doesn’t think his grandma’s going to remember who Avery is because she has dementia, so he only tells his mom to pretend like she doesn’t know her. But his grandma remembers, and she tells everybody that these two used to date a long time ago. Now, the one secret’s out, so all the secrets come tumbling out too. Turns out Erica knew about the cheating and didn’t really care because theirs is a loveless marriage, which on paper should be really sad, but apparently they’re both doing just fine for themselves. Oh, and also, Logan admits he had no plans of proposing, so that’s the whole thing done for real. Who emerges victorious in all of this, you ask? It’s Callum; don’t ask me why; it just is.
Do Avery and Logan Get a Happy Ending?
In Our Little Secret’s ending, Avery leaves Logan’s proposal at Erica’s door and tells her that she’s going to keep visiting until she gives it to Sophie’s dad, Stan. Stan gets it and asks Logan to come on board because he has the best idea for his lifestyle community. Logan, who still had a job from his boss Paul, decides to take up the passion project instead. On the other hand, it seems Logan may have also told Avery’s dad about her wanting to keep the house, so her dad offers it to her, and she buys it for herself. Yes, there’s only one thing left here: did Avery and Logan end up together? Yes, yes, they do, and this time he doesn’t propose to her at a going-away party, but he tells her he loves her at her housewarming party instead. Oh, and also one year later, Erica and Stan are now a thing (guess it is really Christmas), and Logan’s making wedding hall bookings for him and Avery.
