After you pack up your Thanksgiving leftovers and the dinner guests have went home, the next to-do is right around the corner. The two days after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, mark the official beginning of Christmas shopping with bargain deals from large chain stores to locally owned shops.
Here’s a look at what events are going on in Reno for Small Business Saturday and the Black Friday deals.
Small Business Saturday in Reno: What deals, events are there at local shops on Nov. 30?
The Holland Project’s Small Biz Saturday Minimart: This local event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at The Holland Project, 140 Vesta St. The event is free to attend and local art, ‘zines, poetry, books, merch and records will be available for purchase. Holiday portraits, printmaking demos and gift-making will also be available for those that attend. Music will be provided by KWNK Community Radio.
Pick up your punch card for Small Biz Saturday at Radical Cat: The Radical Cat, a locally owned bookshop and cat adoption at 1500 S. Virginia St. in Reno, will be the epicenter for Small Biz Saturday. There, you can pick up your punch card for the event. When you make a purchase at one of the participating businesses, you’ll get a punch. Completed punch cards will be entered into a raffle to win a huge gift basket put together by community partners.

What Reno small business shopping events are there in 2024?
Chili Cash ‘n’ Carry on Dec. 14 and 15: The 14th annual chili cash ‘n’ carry will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 15 at Wedge Ceramics Studio (located at 2095 Dickerson Rd.). Visitors to the event will be able to purchase a $30 handmade bowl, eat chili catered by Bone Appetit Bar-B-Que Grill and browse local artwork.
Hi-Dez Holiday Market on Dec. 19: This holiday market will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 19 at The Holland Project. The event will feature homemade DIY gifts and booths from local businesses and organizations including The Holland Project, Tooti Frooti, Our Center, Magpie Coffee Roasters and Radical Cat.
Night Market on Dec. 19: This event will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 19 at Craft Wine & Beer (located at 22 Martin St.). Visitors to this free event can get a drink, meet local sellers art, listen to music and get last-minute holiday gifts.
