Startup Lloydminster Launches Innovative Program to Support Small Business Growth in Downtown Lloydminster
Lloydminster, AB – November 22, 2024
Startup Lloydminster, in collaboration with Community Futures Lloydminster and Region and the Downtown Redevelopment Committee, is proud to announce the launch of the Launchpad Program, a pilot initiative designed to help emerging and experienced entrepreneurs bring their business ideas to life in a downtown retail space.
The Launchpad Program offers an innovative platform for small businesses to test their products or services in a real– world environment. Participants will benefit from an affordable lease in a prime downtown location, along with mentorship, marketing support, and access to community resources.
“This program represents a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurs to gain hands–on experience while contributing to the growth and vibrancy of Downtown Lloydminster,” said Corinne McGirr, ED Startup Lloydminster. “Our goal is to create a dynamic and diverse downtown core by empowering small businesses to succeed.”
Program Highlights
• Affordable Commercial Space: Businesses will operate in a 1,000 sq ft storefront at 4712 50 Avenue, Lloydminster.
• Guidance and Support: Participants will receive technical support for permits, introductions to mentors, and marketing assistance.
• Flexible Terms: The program spans four terms, with each business operating for up to five months.

Who Can Apply?
The Launchpad Program is open to emerging and established businesses that:
• Offer unique products or services that enhance Downtown Lloydminster’s vibrancy (e.g., specialty retail, artisans, wellness, entertainment).
• Are ready to operate a full–time business for the program term.
• Have a desire to test their concept in a supportive, low–risk environment.
Ineligible businesses include, but not limited to, professional offices, restaurants, nightclubs, and liquor or cannabis stores.
How to Apply
Interested businesses are encouraged to apply early as space is limited. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
