Comedic legend Jim Abrahams had died, according to multiple reports.
He was 80.
Abrahams reportedly died on Tuesday of natural causes at his home in Santa Monica.
Abraham is best known for teaming up with brothers Jerry and David Zucker to create such iconic comedy films as “Airplane!”, “Police Squad!”, and “The Naked Gun” movies.
He also had success on his own, directing the film “Big Business,” as well as co-writing the film “Hot Shots!” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Airplane!” was among the biggest hits, bringing in $83.5 million after having a budget of just $3.5 million, per the Reporter. The site said that landed the movie at No. 3 on the all-time grossing list of comedies at the time. It trailed only “Animal House” and “Smokey and the Bandit,” per the Reporter.

Abraham, a native of Wisconsin, had a long list of films to his names besides those. His last credit came as a writer came with 2006′s ‘Scary Movie 4.” He also had several acting roles, including a spot in “Fat: A Documentary” in 2019 and creative credits that same year, too.
