When Lindsay Lohan made her stunning return to movie making she chose a proven format, a Christmas movie and they chose a proven state to film it in. Utah.
The movie was Netflix’s “Falling For Christmas”. Lindsay’s character is an heiress whose dad owns a luxury ski lodge. She bumps her head and suffers memory loss. In a surprising twist a handsome guy with a soon to be bankrupt, but oh so cozy lodge becomes her caregiver. Ok, maybe not that surprising for a Christmas movie.
This choice makes sense, Lindsay wanted to hedge her bet on a successful return. Like country music, the industry has learned that Christmas movies stick around longer than traditional made-for-TV movies. Also choosing Utah as a background was a good move. A move that proved to be a hit coming in at #1 in the United Kingdom, Canada and Mexico in 2022 and moving into the #2 spot in the United States.
I admit I have watched my fair share plus a holiday scoop of leftovers of Christmas movies and this one fits all of the Christmas movie needs, romance, a family that loves a stranger freely, rethinking the meaning of life, and (what Utah does so well) a stunning backdrop of snow-covered peaks and refreshing ski runs.
The specific locations included the Park City area and Midway Utah.
