Macon Business Owner, Scott Mitchell said one of the perks of shopping local on Small Business Saturday is 68 cents out of every$1 spent at a local business stays in that community.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Scott Mitchell, owner and operator of The Bohemian Den and Sweet Eleanor’s Divine Desserts in Macon said Small Business Saturday really gives a boost to his businesses.
“They put a lot of advertisement money into it and really push it. It really give us as small business owners the same kind of leverage that larger big box stores get when it comes to advertising,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell said one of the many perks of Small Business Saturday is 68 cents out of every dollar spent at a local business stays right there in that community.
“When I shop, when I eat, and when I do all the things that I do, I do it in this small five mile ratio of my house most of the time,” said Mitchell.
Now, Mitchell said there are benefits to going to a big box shop, but said shoppers will lose the personal touch they would get at a local business.
“You get to know the people, like people come into here for instances, they know Melissa, they know the baristas. Like, that’s the person you get your morning coffee from,” said Mitchell.
