MOSES LAKE — Outrage is spreading across Moses Lake following the release of security footage showing the assault of an 86-year-old man at a local business in July. The victim’s daughter, Robin Laskody, brought the incident to light by posting the footage of the July 17, 2024, attack on social media, prompting a flood of tips and reactions.
The assault occurred at CJ’s Custom Meats, located at 210 Gumwood Street. According to Laskody, the conflict began when her father, Robert Baker, expressed concerns about the toughness of the pepperoni he purchased. Security footage shows the exchange escalating when an employee, identified by Laskody as Kyle Leslie, shoves the elderly man, a war veteran, to the ground before punching him repeatedly. The visibly stunned customer managed to leave the store, while Leslie briefly disappeared off-camera before returning, apparently on the phone.
Laskody stated that her father is pursuing legal action against Leslie. She decided to share the video after repeated attempts to contact the store’s owner went unanswered. Laskody says Leslie was not terminated as a result of the assault. A
Despite the severity of the attack and subsequent police investigation, no arrests have been made despite Baker opting to file charges, but no charges have been filed as of yet. Source ONE News is working to confirm why the incident is only now coming to public attention and is reaching out to both the victim’s family and CJ’s Custom Meats for comment.
The footage has sparked widespread condemnation from the community, with many calling for accountability and justice for the victim. Source ONE News continue to update the story as information files in.
