COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – On Nov. 30, downtown Colorado Springs plans to host small business Saturday.
Parking will be free downtown, and many shops plan to offer sales and specials.
The City said shoppers can pick up a Downtown Holiday Coupon Book at Mountain Chalet and Terra Verde. Terra Verde will also have a limited amount of “Shop Small” tote bags for free beginning at 10 a.m.
Four octets from Soli deo Gloria’s choir plan to carol through downtown Colorado Springs’ shopping district from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“When you decide to shop in Downtown Colorado Springs, you’re turning shopping into an experience instead of just a transaction,” says Carrie Simison, Director of Marketing & Communications. “There’s a real joy to having facetime with the people who have poured their heart and soul — and life — into bringing you an independent business and hand-selected products. Each item you choose to gift comes with a story when you purchase it from a local shop owner.”
If you can’t shop in person, the City offered other ways to help out local businesses:
- Shop your favorite Downtown stores online, check out our online directory HERE.
- Purchase a gift card to your favorite shop, restaurant or salon
- Purchase a DOWNTOWN GIFT CARD good at more than 150 locations
- Leave a review for your favorite businesses (Google, Yelp, Facebook)
- Share your favorite businesses social media posts
- Create a #shoplocal post, tag your favorite boutiques and restaurants and share with friends
“Downtown Colorado Springs is home to over 170 shops, galleries, restaurants and personal services, and more than 90 percent of Downtown storefront businesses are locally owned and operated,” the City of Colorado Springs said. “For every $100 spent at a locally owned shop or restaurant, $70 stays in the community, supporting our neighbors and vital services such as schools, parks and roads.”
