The Great Escape Book Store on Kingston Road will host a Book Fair on Saturday, Nov. 30, in support of the Children’s Book Bank.
The Book Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Great Escape, 957 Kingston Rd.
Those attending the fair are invited to purchase books to be donated to the Children’s Book Bank. The total amount of book sales between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. up to $500 will also be donated to the Children’s Book Bank and that amount will be matched by local realtor Christina Marchant of Marchant Homes and Royal LePage Estate Realty in the Beach.
The Children’s Book Bank is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to books and literacy for children in the city. The Book Bank provides free books and literacy support to children living in high-needs neighbourhoods in Toronto.
The goal of the Book Bank is to “provide equal access to books for all children, thereby improving literacy rates and socioeconomic outcomes.”
The Children’s Book Bank provides free books to youngsters up to the age of 18 at three locations in the Toronto. Those locations are Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park, 585 Dundas St. E.; 561 Sherbourne St. in St. James Town; and 1154 Morningside Ave. in Scarborough.
Free programing for children to promote literacy and a love of reading also take place at the Book Bank locations.
