The festive season has officially begun, and the countdown to Christmas is well and truly on. With temperatures continuing to drop and the days getting shorter, there’s no better time for a cosy film night – and Disney+ has got dozens of festive favourites ready for the build up to Christmas Day.
A number of classic Christmas films have landed on the streaming service, as well as a series of new releases, making sure there’s something for everyone this festive season. Every instalment of the hugely popular Home Alone franchise is now available to stream on Disney+, making for perfect family viewing.
There’s also all three of The Santa Claus movies available to stream, in addition to the Die Hard franchise. Both of the hit Frozen films are on the platform, as well as Disney’s A Christmas Carol and Jingle All The Way.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is always a perfect festive film choice, or there’s also The Muppet Christmas Carol. Both editions of Miracle on 34th Street are on Disney+, and The Family Stone and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms are also both on offer.
Among the new releases this festive season is Nutcrackers, which will debut on Disney+ on 29 November. The official synopsis for the film reads: “Just as Mike (Stiller) is on the heels of closing the biggest deal of his career, he’s pulled away from his bachelor life in the big city to a farm in rural Ohio in order to take care of his recently orphaned nephews. The four rowdy boys cause trouble every which way they turn.
“What Mike thought was going to be a quick trip turns into an unexpected adventure. As the holidays approach, he discovers the big hearts behind the boys’ mischief. This forces him to decide between his career and being the uncle his nephews need him to be.”
An Almost Christmas Story will also no doubt be a family favourite, and landed on Disney+ on 15 November. The synopsis for the film reads: “An Almost Christmas Story follows Moon, a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. In his attempts to escape the bustling city, Moon befriends a lost young girl named Luna.
“Together, they embark on a heartwarming adventure, discovering the magic of the holiday season and forming an unlikely bond as they journey back home to their parents.”
