“How the Hell Do You Kick a Man Out of a Business That He Started?” – Dee Devlin’s Unconditional Support for Conor McGregor Gets UFC Legend’s Verdict

It seems like the walls are closing in on Conor McGregor after he was found liable in a case brought forth by Nikita Hand to the Dublin civil court. After the High Court’s verdict, many business deals of ‘The Notorious’ have begun to collapse, with the owners of Proper No.12 choosing to distance themselves from him, and game developer IO Interactive pulling his character ‘The Disruptor’ from ‘Hitman: World of Assassinations’. Furthermore, many in the fight community like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jake Paul took the opportunity to denigrate the former two-weight UFC champion. In all of this, one person continues to stand tall and firm with ‘The Notorious’, and that’s his long-term partner Dee Devlin who issued a scathing attack towards Nikita Hand. Devlin’s comments caught the attention of another two-weight champion Daniel Cormier.

Taking to his YouTube channel, the UFC commentator weighed in on Devlin’s words for Hand. She dissed Hand for “texting provocative pictures of herself to another woman’s man with a family and child on the way.” ‘Texting excuses to her child after a three-day bender’ (in Hand’s words) simply got even more backlash from Devlin who ended the rant by writing, “What sort of WOMAN are you? My sons will be warned women like you exist in the world.” Reading all posts from Devlin, ‘DC’ claimed that McGregor’s sons would indeed face tough situations, because of the kind of money they’d have. 

‘The Notorious’ was in for some harsh reverberations. But the repercussions of the incident on the former double champ’s life greatly confused Cormier. He said, “He has already been removed from Proper 12, a whiskey that he started, which I don’t quite understand. How the hell do you kick a man out of a business that he started? Maybe he sold it. I just don’t know. Hitman, the videogame, they took him out. Conor McGregor is going to face some real-life consequences.”

With a decade of being a larger-than-life personality, and enemies made through the years, not the mention the section of fans who absolutely despise him, McGregor has a target on his back. Daniel Cormier didn’t mince his words when he stated that the fallout from the aforementioned court case could have serious long-term repercussions for ‘The Notorious’.

In his analysis, the former heavyweight champion couldn’t ignore the star factor that Conor McGregor carries around. He is indeed the first MMA athlete to reach financial and mainstream success globally. Daniel Cormier opined, “For a guy of that stature to come from our sport and be tied to something as bad as this, it really does suck. There are going to be some long-term effects from this.” The allegations will certainly leave a permanent stain on the Dubliner’s history, no matter how hard he tries to shake it off.

However, there were also instances where people falsely accused celebrities of such things. Daniel Cormier seemed to be hopeful that McGregor’s case might be the same. He continued, “When I hear things like this, sometimes they are targeted, especially guys that carry that type of cliche, that type of name recognition. But with Conor, it seems like there has been more than one instance where stuff like this has come up… As long as there have been sports, there have been instances like this.” 

Mike Tyson is a clear example of someone who even went to prison in 1992 for accusations similar to what McGregor is facing. However, the former heavyweight champion seems to have come a long way in reinventing himself, and today, he is beloved by fans despite his ugly incarceration. And despite his time in prison, Tyson returned to fighting in 1995 and went on to amass four straight wins.
