MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -In 2010, a new holiday was created to help generate revenue for businesses in our local communities.
Small Business Saturday is tomorrow, and local businesses will open their doors to help customers find the perfect items.
According to American Express, for every dollar you spend at a locally owned small business, 68 cents stay within the community.
Shopping local also boosts the local economy by keeping your tax dollars in the city and county you spend your money in.
“Ohh, I think supporting local small businesses is extremely important, especially around the holiday time. Just kind of invest in the community and invest in each other in the town so we can continue to grow and support local businesses together,” Michael Castle, Manager at Loeb’s says.
So, if you need to buy a new shirt or pair of pants, go out tomorrow and support the stores that are there for you.
