Washington state-based salmonid egg supplier Troutlodge USA has named Joe McElwee as general manager starting in November 2024.
McElwee joined Troutlodge USA from his previous position as global farms director at Hima Seafood, where he served for six years.
According to his LinkedIn profile, his tenure at Hima Seafood, a Norwegian company currently developing a land-based trout farm in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, provided him with a foundation for managing large-scale aquaculture operations.
Before that, McElwee was an operations manager at Ideal Fish in Connecticut and an aquaculture consultant with Aqua99-LLC.
McElwee’s professional journey also includes nearly five years as the global sales manager for commercial aquaculture at Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems, a company that exited the aquaculture industry in 2019.
He is expected to implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and sustainability in trout farming.
Troutlodge is a division of Hendrix Genetics, a Dutch firm that operates globally in multi-species genetics and specializes in animal breeding and technology.
