Black Friday marks the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season with many retailers offering massive discounts both in stores and online. Over time, Black Friday has expanded beyond the U.S. with many countries, including the UK, embracing the madness of the seasonal shopping event.
The deals typically last for several days, starting on Friday and extending through the weekend into Cyber Monday, slashing prices on electronics, clothing, toys, homewares and more. Which is why there are still offers floating about this weekend.
Travel Tuesday is a relatively new phenomenon that specialises purely in travel deals. While most airlines, holiday companies and hotels have already reduced prices in their own Black Friday travel sales, Travel Tuesday promises to offer further discounts on flights, hotel stays, cruises, tours, holidays and more.
What deals can we expect to see on Travel Tuesday?
Many travel operators have yet to confirm what, if any, deals they will be offering to mark the occasion. Some companies will keep their Black Friday deals running for a few days more. These include:
- Jet2 – myJet2 customers can save £100 per person, with up to £400 off for groups of four. There is also 20% off winter flights and 15% off summer flights.
- On The Beach – the budget holiday provider is offering summer holidays from as little as £129.
- Love Holidays – Online travel agent, Love Holidays, is continuing with what it claims is its “biggest-ever Black Friday promotion” by offering summer holidays from £129 and £25 deposits.
- Booking.com – already a purveyor of cheap accommodation, Booking.com is offering up to 35% off selected hotel stays.
- Lastminute.com – the last call for money off deals, Lastminute.com is offering once-a-year deals starting from just £85 per person.
- TUI – up to £300 off selected holidays, free kids’ places, and promo codes, along with 10% off all return flights from January 2025 to April 2026.
How to find the best deals on Travel Tuesday
While Travel Tuesday is a fairly recent addition to our favourite seasonal sales event, the shopping day is growing in popularity with more and more retailers getting involved.
To ensure that you don’t fall prey to deals that are anything less than brilliant, follow our top tips to win big on Travel Tuesday.
Research prices in advance
Whether you’re looking to book a hotel room, flight, or tour, make sure you do research in advance to find out what the original advertised price is. Then, when you spot a deal, you’ll know how much of a deal it really is.
Pay close attention to the deals that drop on Cyber Monday as they could give you an indication of how far, if at all, prices from your favourite provider are likely to fall.
Activate price alerts
Use a website like Skyscanner to send you deals directly to your inbox both before and on Travel Tuesday.
Have a budget in mind
It can be so easy to overspend when you see an amazing deal. Start with a budget you’re happy to stick to and make sure you don’t go over it. While the flight might seem cheap, if it’s over your budget then it’s not a deal.
Be flexible with your dates and destinations.
If you’re able to be flexible with the dates that you travel or the places you want to go, it’ll be much easier for you to find the best deals. Look at flights within a few days of your chosen date to find the cheapest seats and if you’re open to alternative destinations, you could save even more.
Sign up for deals
If you know you have certain airlines or hotels you prefer, sign up for their newsletters in advance to make sure you receive their deals as soon as they drop. This means you’ll be able to make a quick decision about if the options are right for you, or if you need to shop around other companies
Read the T&Cs
While you need to move fast to secure the best deal, make sure you’re not just blinded by the number on the website. Sometimes travel providers will impose specific rules onto heavily discounted products, so make sure you read the contract to understand their cancellation policy, what’s included in the fare and if any form of insurance is included or required.
