Poke around and find out. Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd lead the cast of A24’s upcoming dark comedy Death of a Unicorn, and A24 has released the film’s official trailer this morning.
Death of a Unicorn will arrive sometime in Spring 2025.
Watch the official trailer for Death of a Unicorn below, which plays out a bit like Harry and the Hendersons… with a unicorn rather than a bigfoot. Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd’s characters accidentally hit – and seemingly kill – a unicorn-like creature in the film, and that’s only the beginning of their fantastical nightmare when it soon roars to life and starts killing.
This first official trailer focuses heavily on the comedy aspect of the movie, with Will Poulter stealing the show with several fantastic lines, but it also teases the film’s monstrous side. One thing is clear already: this is one pissed off unicorn! Expect more from this one soon.
The upcoming feature is produced by Ari Aster (Beau is Afraid, Misommar), and we’ve even learned that horror master John Carpenter will compose music for the film! The score has reportedly been composed by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.
In Death of a Unicorn, “A father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.”
Alex Scharfman (Resurrection, Lyle) directed the film, which also stars Téa Leoni (Jurassic Park III, Spanglish), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anthony Carrigan (Bill & Ted Face the Music, “Barry”), Sunita Mani (“Servant,” “Glow”), Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead, Paddington 2), and Stephen Park (Asteroid City).
