The trailer of the film dropped earlier today and introduces audiences to a world in which robots have been exiled to The Electric State – 200,000 square miles of secure territory – after failed, but rather ugly rebellion. Robots, according to the humans, could not possibly understand our best interests.
But there are others who thought that the war with robots was wrong and one of them, Keats (Pratt) joins a young orphan, Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), in a quest to find her missing brother, with the help of a bot named Cosmo (Tudyk).
The Electric State
Tucci’s character, Ethan Skate, is the villain in the tale, who explains that he famously never owned a robot and that when these machines stopped following human commands, they had to be banished, or rather, imprisoned. Keats was one of the soldiers who fought the bots in the war that the humans won, but at great loss to many.
The Netflix production marks the second venture of Russo brothers on Netflix after The Gray Man. The film was earlier meant to be on the streamer in early 2024, with April 26 announced as the date, but it was then postponed indefinitely, with a new date emerging only in October when the teaser dropped.
