A mum has taken her Christmas preparations to new heights by booking a hotel room solely for wrapping presents, and in doing so, enjoyed a tranquil evening. The mother of three, Jenny, who goes by Just Jenny Benny on TikTok, shared her “genius” strategy on the platform, which involved checking into a hotel for a night of uninterrupted gift-wrapping.
Jenny captured herself wheeling a heap of shopping bags with a porter’s trolley before settling into her temporary retreat. “You book a hotel room for the night, child free, to wrap presents, watch Christmas films and drink wine in peace! ” she wrote in her video caption.
The footage quickly became a sensation, with many TikTok users praising her ingenuity. “Fuming I’ve never thought to do this!” one user commented. “It’s genius,” added another.
“Fuming I’ve never thought to do this!” one person responded. “It’s genius.” Another agreed: “Omg you’re a genius. Please tell me you get room service as well? Christmas movie, food and a glass of wine.”
A third quipped: “I’d pretend I was wrapping and have it done already secretly and just go for a relaxing night away.” Whilst a fourth hailed: “I think it’s a brilliant idea. Get it all done in peace , watch a movie, glass of wine. Bit of time out for mum at the most hectic time of year.”
Others weren’t as kind, however, slamming Jenny for taking it too far. “This is so ridiculous!” one TikTok user slammed. “I’ve got six kids and I’ve never had to book a hotel to wrap presents.”
A second asked: “Why can’t the person who has the kids overnight while you’re at the hotel not have them overnight while you’re at home?” Jenny explained: “Because they’ll still be at home… with me!”
A third disagreed with the idea: “The actual stress of having to cart all that stuff to and from home. Absolutely not.” Whilst a fourth person cursed: “Who even does that? You usually get someone to take kids out while you wrap and then hide ’em or do it while they’re at school.”
Speaking in a follow-up video, meanwhile, Jenny added: “I’ve had room service, I had brisket – it was delicious. I’ve had a Bailey’s and I’ve got snacks. I brought all the presents here and there’s supermarkets all around where I’m staying so I went and bought wrapping paper, Sellotape, scissors and massive gift bags so I can put all the presents for each child, and more gift bags for stockings so I can keep everything separate.”
