Fans of the survival movie genre have been hailing one particular film on Netflix as the “best one” they’ve ever seen.
However, they have also warned that the flick could leave you “traumatised”, with many admitting it brought them to tears.
On the Clip Moment Facebook page, which regularly shares reviews and top movie listicles, one post broke down the “top 30 survival movies”.
While famous films like 2015’s The Martian, 2013’s Gravity and 2010’s 127 Hours all made the cut, it was a movie from 2023 that earned the top spot.
Nowhere, which is a Spanish thriller directed by Albert Pinto, takes place in a dystopian setting and follows Mia (Anna Castillo) as she struggles to survive after being separated from her husband following a totalitarian government takeover of their home country.
The synopsis on Rotten Tomatoes, where the film is scored at 69%, reads: “Pregnant, alone and drifting in the sea, a woman trapped in a shipping container tries to survive after fleeing a devastated totalitarian country.”
The film also stars Tamar Novas as Nico and is based on a story by Indiana Lista, with a screenplay written by Ernest Riera, Miguel Ruz, Indiana Lista, Seanne Winslow, and Teresa Rosendoy.
In the comments of the Facebook post, fans shared their thoughts on Nowhere, with several singing its praises.
“Nowhere is a must-watch,” one insisted, as another agreed: “
“My favourite movie is Nowhere,” a third fan revealed, as one more said: “Nowhere is best.”
Others admitted the film had left them in tears, with one commenting: “Nowhere got me crying at some point. I thought she’s going to die cos of hunger.” (sic)

She even had to eat fresh fish just to survive.”
“Nowhere damaged me,” a fan penned with a string of crying emojis, while one viewer went so far as to say: “I watched Nowhere. NGL, it’s crazy. That movie can really traumatize you.” (sic)
However, not everyone agreed, with one person remarking: “I feel like Nowhere was ridiculously exaggerated.”
“I think nowhere is overrated! Nice movie though,” another fan pondered.
Nowhere received mixed to positive reviews from critics, with the general consensus being that Castillo’s outstanding performance is what takes the film to the next level.
